Boat Noodle Express – Rivervale Drive, Singapore

Advertisements

I was told of this place by a friend who apparently visits this stall so frequently that she is part timing there now. To be honest, if she didn’t tell me, I wouldn’t have known such a hidden gem also. So I decided I should visit this place with a fellow foodie and you can find the pictures with comments below.

The stall is only about a month old, a invested interest of lady boss, Desiree Goh, who is 38 this year. She started this little stall for the basic fundamentals; Love for food and cooking. Sounds familiar ya? 😉

Stall front

Thai Milk Tea or Cha Yen $2.50.

Pork Special Noodle Soup $4.80 – Their signature. Pork broth very similar to the ones in Thailand except the salt level is not so high here. Well tuned for Singaporeans. Love the glass noodles!

Beef Tendon Noodle Soup $6.00 – I’m proud to say I was the first to try this and the beef was so tender!!! Broth is light and beefy. Yummy.

Thai Fish Cake $3.50 – Very yummy.
Desiree on the right and friend Amanda on the left. I look so huge beside them!

Portion: Good size for an average sized adult.

ROY THAI KITCHEN – HOUGANG, SINGAPORE (CLOSED)

Advertisements

Intro:This is definitely a hidden gem which I came to know recently. Roy Thai Kitchen (no, I don’t have any invested interest in this if you’re wondering!) is nestled within a coffeeshop where the famous roast meat joint Guan Chee is. Although competition is strong, the boss of RTK (Which literally means Authentic Thai Kitchen) Admond, is determined to set a foothold in there to start providing affordable authentic Thai food to the neighbourhood. Even the Head Chef, Lob and second chef are from Thailand! Check out my reviews below:

Humble little stall in a coffee shop!
Damn yummy pepper prawn crackers! The sambal even more bombastic! These crackers are complimentary for a la carte orders only.
Oh when I sipped this Tom Yum Seafood soup ($8/$12), I know Mum will like this. Very nice and yummy.
Sliced Pork Salad ($8) Love the spicy and tangy taste.
Green Curry Chicken ($8) for a very good portion and the flavours are quite close to what I had in Northern Thailand. Love this dish a lot. Go with white steamed rice best! Alternatively, you can order their Green Curry Fried Rice ($5) too!
Thai Style Steamed Fish with Lime Juice ($22). Priced very reasonably and taste really appetising and homely. A must order!
Pad Thai ($5) doesn’t come with any meat cos originally is like that. Best of all, final details like little dried shrimps are added which authenticates how Thais love it. Another must order!
Me, Chef Lob, Admond & Wife!

Taste:

Generally, all the dishes we had were very tasty! Really good! Only set back was the Sliced Pork Salad, which was a little tough for my liking. But the team will be working on this and hopefully we’ll have yummy tender pork on our next visit! Keep up the good work guys!

Taste Of Thailand – Yishun, Singapore

Was looking around for some Thai food and heard there’s this outlet that is pretty good at Sembawang Shopping Centre. So I went there with my god brother just to realise that it has moved LONG AGO. Obviously, I haven’t been around these parts for the longest time! Haha… So we made our way there using Google Maps and finally found it located inside some industrial coffeeshop. So after parking the car, we sat down and checked out the food!

Pineapple Fried Rice – A lot of pork floss on top! Taste good too!
Deep Fried Fish – Fresh, cheap and good!
Tom Yum Seafood Soup – Very nice
Sambal Kang Kong
Deep Fried Squid – This is addictive!
Fried Vermicelli – Not like the dry one I had in mind but quite tasty.
