Heng Huat Fried Prawn Mee × Prawn Mee Soup – Sin Ming, Singapore

Advertisements

This stall has been around ever since Shunfu Mart renovated. Moved from their origin place at Lakeview, this stall has quite a following. And I learnt that this uncle has been a hawker since he was 19 years old and now he’s 65. Respect. So I decided to give it a try by order both the prawn noodles and the fried prawn mee.

Rating: 4/5.

Portion: Normal

Price: $4 for fried, $3 for dry.

Service: Self-service

Ambience: Hawker Centre with very tight seating. My tummy was rubbing on the table.

Taste: Dry version has an old school taste to it with ketchup. Soup that came with it looked rich but tasted not too rich. I would prefer a little more umami richness to the broth cos that will affect the taste for the fried one as well. Fried one is well fried with the eggs fried in from the beginning to create the broth that simmers the noodles. By right the noodles should be good on its own but you need to mix in the sambal and squeeze the lime to get the taste they created.

RTE: Given the limited time I have, I’ll come if I’m around the area.

Location: 320 Shunfu Rd, #02-09, Singapore 570320
Hours: 10am-1.30pm, 5-8pm. Closed on Thu.

添南興肉脞面 (Minced Pork Noodle) – Bedok, Singapore

Advertisements

I was told that this Bak Chor Mee stall is better than the ones at Block 85 of Bedok so here I am. See review below.

Taste:
I love the broth, cos the raw minced pork is mixed inside the broth before serving, giving it a very yummy meaty taste to every spoonful. And there are bits of fried bonito (tee por) inside to make the soup even more flavourful. Noodles are springy but not the best of noodles though.

$4.00

Good

AH HOE MEE POK – CLEMENTI, SINGAPORE

Advertisements

Intro:Read about this interesting Japanese family in Clementi who started partnered with Ah Hoe Mee Pok to open 2 outlets. Going there you’ll definitely need to drive that’s why I only manage to visit them only now thanks to Uber. So the story in summary is Father quit from his regular job and decided to learn from the original Ah Hoe Mee Pok owner by working 6 months for free. So now they have 2 stalls operating at different hours to cater for their customers. Block 710 is managed by the daughter which opens much earlier and block 713 is managed by the brother while the father now oversees everything. As I only knew about 710, that’s the stall I visited.

Th Stall
Their latest fusion noodles
My order of mee pok dry $4
After finishing the noodles still got so much ingredients! Next time must order extra noodles!
My bowl of Miso Mee Kia. $6. See how the pork lard is finely cut and fried to perfection? Yums!
Love how mee kia soaks up the miso sauce. Yums!
Every bowl should be left like that. #worldcleanplate
Reina took this pic with me without knowing who I was.

Taste:

Taste wise is pretty classic. Not really a Mee Pok fan but at least the flavours were there. Would add a little more vinegar for my taste. The miso version which I tried weeks later was really yummy. I chose mee kia this time round and love how the miso sauce soaks up in the noodle.

Price:

$4 for the Mee Pok, $6 for the Miso

Portion:

Above average. Noodles standard but ingredients really a lot. See pic.
