Was introduced to this place by a friend of mine. It’s located at the corner of a corner coffeeshop. The place is really old and not to mention dirty… maybe I got my LS from here after that night…
My friend chose a good seat for me to takc pics but at the mercy of the girl who is helping out in the stall… trust me, it’s a bad choice… as per all Xing Hua people, they talk very loud… this girl’s voice is high pitch shrill and loud! And we were so close to the stall some more… sigh…
Rationg: 4/5. (Cleanliness can be greatly improved!!!)
Taste: Very nice. Maybe because it’s dirty hahaha… Heard the cook inside sneezing very loudly.. lucky our food done cooking already! ;P
Portion: Slightly above average.
Price: Total bill only $26.00 for 2 persons.
Location: 276 Race Course Road. Park illegally along the sides of the road or at the multi-storey carpark.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to this old market for some of the good food here. I’ve arranged 2 friends to meet me here before we head on to May Day’s DNA concert in Singapore Indoor Stadium. The place can be accessible by walking from Kallang MRT Station also.
One of the must try here is an old couple’s Penang Char Kway Teow at #01-08. The stall is just right in front of the carpark when you reach the market.
Taste:If you have tasted the Penang Char Kway Teow in Penang, this is the closest you’ll get in Singapore. It’s damn good I tell you! Not too salty, not too oily, prawns are fresh, kway teow is tender and the fire control is perfect. No cockles for this one.
Portion:Very good for the price!
Price: $2.50 per plate only…
RTE: You bet! 🙂 Old couple no recognition from those commercialised rating programmes… So we must support them lah. 🙂
