Back to my favourite eating place at Sims Place Hawker… tried out this carrot cake stall before and went back to feature them.
The humble little stall at the corner in the middle rows... middle age couple running the place. Lady is preparing the plain carrot cakes by cutting them into smaller pieces by pushing into a mould cutter which the man is doing all the frying.Mum loves the white version which is original Teochew style. Loads of egg is added into the frying. This is the Singaporean black version. I like the black version cos it has sweet sauce added into it and after frying it has a very nice burn taste... and this stall does it very well.

Taste: Very nice. The carrot cake is homemade. That makes the carrot cake a lot nicer and different from the rest of the stalls.
Portion: Above average.
Price: $2.00 a plate only…
RTE: Yes!!!
Location: 49 Sims Place #01-30 (middle row furthest from the carpark & toilets)
Chanced upon this old couple selling Fried Kway Teow & Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee while I was at Sim Place Market the other day. This place is at Blk 49 Sims Place, unit #01-26 and it’s my regular haunt. Loads of good food here and I will feature them one by one whenever I can.
The stall is very clean although it’s only Grade B… but I prefer Grade B stalls cos usually taste better than Grade A ones.. haha… So I ordered a plate of Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee for $3 a plate.
Serves a lot of regulars which spark my curiosity to try this stallQuite a big plateClose up...

Taste:Sambal is very nicely fried. They use the thinner version of the Chor Bee Hoon which I like cos it absorbs the prawn broth nicely. Not very salty but just nice. You can tell they have been putting a lot of work in the broth for frying. If only it is fried a little longer with a little more broth, I believe the taste will be a lot better.
Portion:For $3, the portion is good. Ingredients are substantial and most importantly, there were 3 medium sized prawns and they are whole prawns unlike some other stalls they halved their prawns and prolly give you only 3 halves.
RTE:Definitely. Must support the old couple lah. They are like 60+ already still doing hawker. Will try the Char Kway Teow soon and put here. 🙂
