Day 4 is a long day as I leave the mountains to explore more of Chiangrai. I’m already in love with the city and the scenery it has to offer. Can’t wait to check out more of what this little city has to offer!

Day 3 began with me visiting a couple of places before heading up to Doi Chang Mountain. I just love not just checking out unique coffee houses but also less known street food! I will let the pics do the talking!
At Chivit Thammada. I’ve written a separate blogpost about this place before as it gave me some much inspirations. Love this place like mad!So cosy insideCounterSuperb surroundingsRiverside seating
My order of Scrambled Eggs Muffin with Smoked Salmon. Yummy!Love the cutlery too!Back in town, parked my car, on my way to 7-Eleven to top up my SIM Card data when I spotted this eatery.Which was selling this awesome roast pork!!! Just by the look of the skin, I know this is CRACKLING! So guess what happened next? ;PYeah I ordered a plate of roast pork rice but I asked for lesser rice. It’s very well roasted BUT they chopped in really small pieces. 40 baht!Pump petrol before the long journey up the mountains! But first, stop by Wat Rong Khun aka White Temple. Seriously too touristy for me. So I took a selfie anyways! ;PAll white…But check out the construction, really detailed. This is actually a road divider cone at the White Temple. Alright that’s all for day 3, watch out for Day 4!
I began Day 4 by driving to a spot where the sun can be seen rising. As Doi Chang Coffee Farm was at the west side, the sun can only be seen way after it rises. Just being there, soaking up everything from the morning freshness and quietness, is just what I need. Would be great if I can prepare a picnic basket next time! 😉 After that I headed back to the farm, but on the way I checked out another farm and also a very nice private resort that cost more than S$1000 a night!!! But the view is really spectacular, no doubt about that. After that I headed back to the farm to watch the pulping process of the soaked beans using the wet process and bidded my farewell to the people and the Akha people! Check out the video I’ve done below. Very amateur but there’s always a starting point right? ;P
Then after that, I headed down Doi Chang, and I’ve managed to put everything on video here…
Hope you guys like the videos ‘cos there is no better way to show you guys what I’ve experienced! Stay tuned for Chiang Rai Day 5!
Finally found some time to update day 3 as I was heading up to the mountains of Doi Chang and stay over a night there with limited data access. Now I’m sitting at Taurus Coffee Bar at Don Mueng Airport in Bangkok sipping a cup of pretty good coffee and eating a Double Shock Cake…
Double Shock Cake
I began day 3 with checking out of the hotel very early to visit Chevit Thamma Da Coffee House (Which means A Simple Life or Ordinary Life in Thai) across the river from where I was. Touted as the best restaurant/cafe in the whole of Chiang Rai, I can only understand why after I reached there. I’ll write on this place more in a separate post (http://wp.me/pCcuC-Hx). This place have me so much inspiration that I started videoing my experiences for my readers to see ‘cos a picture can tell a thousand words, a video can do ten times of that. Check out my video of the place I spent a good one hour there absorbing the great ambience before I headed southwest towards my next destination.
Before I did the long drive, I drove towards town to look for a 7-Eleven to top up my SIM card. I found one and stopped along the side of the road and walked past a local eatery with a slab of roast pork hanging and I could tell the skin was damn crispy! After topping my card, I had to try this and ordered a plate of Roast Pork Rice but I asked them to half the rice portion.
The pork was so good, it beats any of the branded ones I ate before. And this plate costed me only THB40! I could order half a slab easily if I had friends traveling with me…maybe next time! I’ll definitely be back for this… Hopefully I can remember how to go back there again… *gulp*
The rest of the trip I’ve done up in a video form to present it. Totally unplanned and just for the fun of it! The video shows my journey to the white temple, up the mountains, etc. It was fun!
After that lovely but salty lunch, I headed straight to Doi Chang Coffee Farm where I made a prior appointment to visit. Learnt a lot over there and do check out Part 1 below and Part 2 later after I finish video editing.
Stay tune for eatwithroy visits Doi Chang Coffee Farm Part 2!
