Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee (1988) 潮州酒楼發記 – Amoy Street, Singapore

This restaurant is definitely out of my usual posts for good and affordable food in Singapore. But when you meet up with friends occasionally you get to eat slightly costlier food and when I write on them, means they are pretty impressive! I haven’t been to these parts of town for the longest time mainly because I don’t work in town. This place is definitely a lot more crowded on weekdays but on a Sunday, you can literally walk in the middle of Amoy Street… for 10 seconds without a car honking at you and people calling you seow (mad) … Continue reading Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee (1988) 潮州酒楼發記 – Amoy Street, Singapore

好味健康汤 (Good Taste Healthy Soups) – Ubi, Singapore

I was quite skeptical about writing this ‘cos the aunty from this stall told me how she’s trying to cope managing the stall alone. Occasionally you would see her son helping out during lunch time but I doubt he’s there all the time. Anyways, I want to share how wonderful the soups that are sold here. See my comments below: Rating: 5/5. Taste: No MSG! Really great tasting and even my colleagues love this! Try it and let me know what you think of this! Portion: Average. Service: Aunty is nice and friendly. Ambience: Coffeeshop. Price: See pics. RTE: All … Continue reading 好味健康汤 (Good Taste Healthy Soups) – Ubi, Singapore

Dragon-i Restaurant (The Pavilion) – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

There are some facts that I have researched on lately that cleared my mind. All along I always thought the Canton-i (http://wp.me/pCcuC-4A) at ION Orchard in Singapore is related to Dragon-i in Malaysia… I was right, Canton-i is under the Dragon-i Restaurant Group of Companies. Whether the outlet in Singapore is a direct expansion or franchise, I’ve yet to find out. The other thing I’ve always thought that Canton-i was under the Paradise Group of Singapore, apparently not, just that they have Canton Paradise under their group which sounds similar. Anyways this is my second time here at this outlet in … Continue reading Dragon-i Restaurant (The Pavilion) – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Lot 10 Hutong 十號胡同 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Haven’t been shopping or even walking along the streets of Bukit Bintang in KL for the longest time and this time I made it a point with a friend who happened to fly in Kuala Lumpur at the same time from Hong Kong. So we decided to catch up over dinner and while we were wandering around, we saw this place with all the signages… So we decided to check out this place… how wrong can it go when it’s recommended by 蔡澜, the famous food critic/celebrity from Hong Kong. To our surprise, this is suppose to be a foodcourt … Continue reading Lot 10 Hutong 十號胡同 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Hong Nian Vegetarian Food – Hougang, Singapore

This vegetarian stall within a coffee shop has been there for ages near where I live. I’m sorry for not writing about them sooner as think all of you know, I’ve just moved back to home Singapore. My mother and myself enjoy their food there and here I am now, writing about them. Rating: 4/5. Taste: Very tasty. Makes you forget you’re eating vegetarian! They have tse char also! Portion: Average. Service: Uncle cooks, aunty serves. Very friendly aunty. Ambience: N.A. Coffee shop. Price: A little on the pricey side unless you take the standard set. RTE: Yes, a few … Continue reading Hong Nian Vegetarian Food – Hougang, Singapore

Product Review – Jja Jang Men 炸酱面

This product is totally not new ‘cos I had it in while I was in Suzhou. I haven’t tasted the original ones from Korea but this taste pretty good itself. I was first attracted by the large portion but only to find out this 200g pack is actually 100g+100g. Tell you more below: Rating: Love the noodle texture. Thick and full of bite. You may have to cook a little longer like 4 mins or so. Love the sauce too. Taste better with some fried onions and white pepper over it. I do not know where this is selling but they … Continue reading Product Review – Jja Jang Men 炸酱面

Simply Life – Shenzhen, China

Another cafe that I would like to own… Check out the pics below: Rating: 4/5. Taste: Burger is ok. Soup can skip. Usually the folks who frequent there orders the breads and a coffee and hang there for the whole bloody day so that people like us go there will not find a table. Portion: Small. Service: Can be improved. Ambience: Nice, but weekends the crowd is madness! RTE: Yeah for the breads. Price: Burgers for RMB$45, soups can’t remember but don’t bother. Latte was around RMB$28. Location: 罗湖区宝安南路1881号万象城二期. Tel: 22211782. They have another branch at Coco Park as well. Continue reading Simply Life – Shenzhen, China

Maan Coffee (Shekou main branch) – Shenzhen, China

This coffee house is located pretty far away from where I used to stay in Shenzhen. They are at Shekou are which is around RMB$80 cab ride from my place in Futian district. Shekou is a place where there are loads of expats, reason is there are factories in that area and also there are direct ferries to Hong Kong International Airport where there are more flight options to reach their home/destinations. Shenzhen International Airport is practically a domestic airport with a few international flights… The gate for the international flights shows… small and a lot less grand than that of … Continue reading Maan Coffee (Shekou main branch) – Shenzhen, China
