Tse Char Stall @ 112 Bishan St 12

Advertisements

Ok finally broadband is stable… a lot of backlogs for the food that I’m suppose to review. This one is yet again at block 112 Bishan St 12. Tried the other stuff already so must try the Tse Char stall cos I noticed quite a lot of people eating. So I order a classic Sweet & Sour Pork Rice to taste how good this basic dish can be.

The pork has a very nice crispy crust around it and the pork is tender inside. Not too sweet, and very nice fire burnt taste. Nice.
Their sambal chilli is very nice... remember to ask for more.. hehe...

Rating: 4/5

Taste: It was better than expected. Such good sweet and sour pork is quite hard to come by especially when it’s crispy outside, tender inside and the taste is just right.

Portion: Average

Price: $4.50. Not as cheap like some other places but the quality is worth it.

RTE: Yeah sure!

Was back here again to try their other foodstuff. Stomach wasn’t feeling that good so cannot have anything curry… so I decided to try the noodles. Ordered a 小碗面which basically is a bowl of noodles of your choice with a bowl of soup with ingredients. I didn’t tell her to add more noodles as my stomach was not feeling that well but she did it anyway… I guess SIZE really does matter! ;P

The stall... not very clear cos taken from my N95...
There, the big bowl of noodles with with boiling soup...
Tasty mushroom sauce and it taste better with loads of black chinese vinegar.
Soup with a lot of ingredients. Don't look very nice because of the egg inside... but it's tasty and MSG is kept to the minimum.

Rating: 4.5/5

Taste: Nicer than expected. 🙂 Should try their curry chicken noodles also!

Portion: Above average.

Price: $4.00 only.

RTE: Yes if around that area and when craving for noodles!

Location: Block 112 coffeeshop (the tandoori stall is just beside it…)

TANDOORI DELIGHTS @ BLK 112 BISHAN ST 12

Advertisements

Noticed a signage saying there’s a new coffeeshop at Block 112 of Bishan St 12, so I turned in to have a look at what they have. There are more active stalls than the last time before their renovation and now this Food Summons coffeeshop is a lot brighter, cleaner and more food variety.

Spotted an Indian stall at the corner and noticed that they are offering tandoori chicken as well other favourites like chicken tikka, naan and chapati… The stall is managed by an Indian and a Chinese National. Funny pair really but this Chinese guy knows the food and names well… he does the light cooking like mee siam and mee rebus and warming up the meats… tried the mee siam on a separate day, nothing exciting… will try the mee rebus on another day. The India guy does all the baking of naan, chapati and frying of pratas, thosais, etc. For a small stall, they have a good variety and when you are there at 8pm, these choices are still available to you!

Below are the dishes I’ve tried on 2 separate visits:

Food Summons Coffeeshop
The Indian Stall
My Tandoori Chicken Briyani! $5.00! Big chicken leg with very nice briyani rice. Nice...
up close on the thigh... yummy...
Garlic Butter Naan... awesome... $2.00
Chapati $1.00 each piece... Heard it's healthy, so must try... hehe...
Chicken tikka best eaten with Chapati and Naan! $4.00
Chick Peas Dhal... to go with the chapati
Curry sauce to go with the chapati also...

Rating: 4.5/5

Taste: Very nice tandoori taste… meat is tender and tasty… a tad salty though but it’s great with the plain naan, rice or chapati. The sauces could be better though.

Portion: Average

Price: With the pics above.

RTE: Yeah!

Location: Block 112 Bishan St 12. It’s hidden below a slope. So check the map first before going. Closes at 10pm.

Hui Xiang Tse Char @ Blk 120 Bishan St 11

Was here for a quick dinner one night and found a little gem over here. This Tse Char stall of an old coffee shop apparently was featured in the newspapers before. Since I was the only person eating, I ordered only 2 dishes.

The Stall
Told you it's an old coffee shop...
Sambal Salted Fish Fried Rice ($4.00) + Egg ($0.50). Very big portion... good for 2 average sized Singaporeans. Very tasty and value for money.
See they even put the small white ikan bilis on top to make it more tasty with every mouthful.
Prawn Paste Chicken ($8.00) - Fried to perfection. Nice and juicy inside. Good portioning as well. Love the boneless chunks... dip it in the sambal belachan, heavenly! 🙂

Rating: 4.5/5

Taste: Very nice and very good wok fire which adds to the taste. Will be back to try their specialty tofu and assam fish head.

Portion: Above average

Price: Stated with the pics

RTE: Yes!
