Alright I’m attempting to write my blogs on the bus again. Can only do it when the bus is not so crowded or else very hard to use 2 thumbs.
海鲜之家 or Seafood House in direct translation, is a recent stall at Eunos Hawker Centre which I’ve discovered. Reason is because they opened till 10pm, a time which I can meet after closing the cafe. Stall is owner by a PRC lady who have been living here for the past decade and her hubby is a Singaporean. She goes to buy her fish daily from the market and occasional you may get some premium fish… Just like some single origin coffee beans haha. Heard it’s long queue during peak hours which I doubt I’ll get to see. Anyways check out the pics below:
Taste: Fish and seafood are fresh and very tasty. My comfort food after a long tiring day!
Ambience: Hawker centre with large fans
RTE: Many times already 🙂
Location: #01-38 Eunos Hawker Centre. Facing opposite side of MRT tracks. Opens from 10am to 10pm.
Wow I didn’t know time past by so quickly. It has been almost 6 months since I’ve last reviewed on The Manhattan FISH MARKET (MFM). You can read about the previous blog entry here (https://eatwithroy.com/2014/11/12/the-manhattan-fish-market-kallang-singapore/). Anyways was recently at another new launch of MFM and this time they launched A Beefier Catch, which features 4 new beef and reef entrees, in an effort to spruce up the older menu and gearing up to the coming Mothers’ Day. Check out the new dishes below:
Without a doubt, MFM is definitely good with their seafood and I just love the freshness. Having beef option as a promotion is a refreshing idea but I wish they would not lose focus in what they do best, which is seafood. Nevertheless, the event was great, food was good and service was excellent. Go try their Beef & Reef promotion from now till 31st May 2015 at any of their 16 outlets Singapore-wide. You may also wanna stay tuned to their Mothers’ Day specials on their FB page –> www.facebook.com/MFMSingapore
House of Peranakan Petit is the latest addition not only to the House of Peranakan Group of Restaurants (www.houseofperanakan.com.sg) but also to the ever so popular Tiong Bahru region. Located at Eng Hoon Street, this little (no puns intended) 30-seater modern Peranakan restaurant is set to bring heritage food to an area surrounded by hipster cafes.
So a group of us bloggers and influencers are invited a couple of nights ago to sample some of their signature dishes and boy, they were awesome! Check out the pics below with comments and if you’re on instagram, check out hashtags #houseofperanakan and #houseofperanakanpetit for pics and comments by our foodie friends! You can also read the review for their main branch at Frankel Avenue here –> https://eatwithroy.com/2014/11/17/house-of-peranakan-cuisine-frankel-avenue-singapore/
Taste: Authentic Peranakan food at it’s best.
Service: Excellent service.
Ambience: Felt really at home. That’s when food taste it’s best.

Celebrated my mother’s birthday recently at this place together with my brother’s family. Been here only once and this visit was only the second time. It has been around for a very long time and each time I come, it is always so crowded. This stall is actually within a food court and during dinner times, usually the crowd is there for the tse char only. Check out the yummy pics and comments below:
Taste: Yummy and good.
Portion: Slightly above average.
Service: Not too bad, even when it’s crowded.
Ambience: Food got has aircon, that’s all that matters… ;P
Price: Total damage was only $91.50 for 4 adults and 3 kids. Very reasonable. Cash only.
Location: 623 Elias Road, #01-01 Elias Mall, Singapore 510623. Tel: 6582 3158
This place came highly recommended by a Singaporean friend base in Shenzhen also and I told myself I need to visit this place when I was back the last round. Happy Crab, as the name suggests, sells crabs and only crabs. Their crabs are specially ordered and all comes with thick, milky and sweet roe inside as you crack open (see pic below). However, they are just a stall within a coffee shop, hence you can also order from the tse char stall which apparently has damn awesome wings and sambal kang kong!
Taste: 5/5. Freshness at its best!
Portion: NA. Depending on how big you order.
Service: 5/5. Uncle is very friendly on phone when you place your advance order (one day)
Ambience: 3/5. Coffee shop, don’t expect much.
Price: Large one costed me S$30.
RTE: Yes definitely, writing this entry is making me craving for it in China!
Location: 641 Geylang Road (Lor 33). Tel: 96188713 (Peter Ang) One day advance order.
**Happy Crab has moved to 609 Geylang Road (Lor 31)**
Heard so much about this chill out place located in a farmway at Pasir Ris so I decided to check it out with a friend for dinner. Not too hard to find but it’s located slightly deep in the Pasir Ris Farmway 1. So just drive straight in and keep going and head toward the Kids’ Kampong direction.
Taste: Everything was lovely. The level of spiciness can be requested. So if you want your kangkong to be more spicy, do it. If you want your curry fish head to be more spicy, do it!
Price: The whole meal came to about $70+ Pretty decent pricing really.
RTE: Yeah man, great place to chill out with some friends.
