AH PING TEOCHEW BRAISED DUCK/KWAY CHAP – BEDOK, SINGAPORE

This is the side of Bedok not many would pass by or visit. Or maybe it’s me cos I’ve never checked out this coffeeshop before. And some stalls open only in the afternoon for the dinner crowd. So I decided to pop by one afternoon to check out the place. Not many stalls were opened except this deliciously looking braised duck kway chap stall was open and decided to give it a try.

What I like about this stall is that Ah Ping manages it all by herself. From prepping, cooking, taking orders, packing food, collect money, etc. She took over the stall from her in-laws and when I was there, it was still under the old name, which I’ve already changed on Google Maps. I’ve also included her mobile number for pre-orders so you don’t have to wait too long. Kway Chap is tasty, no porky smell, not too salty, very balance. The kway as explained in video, was the thicker one. I prefer the finer one cos it’s smoother. But overall good pricing and yummy.

FENG JI KWAY CHAP – JALAN BATU, SINGAPORE

Feng Ji Kway Chap was discovered some years back when I was there at Jalan Batu Hawker Centre in search for my fav wanton noodles. But there was a long queue so I gave Feng Ji a try.

What I like about this stall is the friendly tattooed owner welding a chopper and his no nonsense lady partner who is there taking orders. The kway is exceptionally smooth and silky because he’s using the ultra thin one which is quite challenging as the cooking style is different and it breaks or becomes soggy easily. But his was perfect. And the innards have no porky smell, which appeals to even my fussy Diana. Paired with the vinegar based chilli sauce, yums. Best of all, the price at only $4.50 per standard set. Prolly one of the cheapest around.

TO-RICHO GUO SHI (KWAY CHAP) @ Old Airport Road Hawkers’ Centre

It was my birthday so I decided to have my lunch at this famous kway chap place at Old Kallang Airport Food Centre. Famous from Blanco Court, this stall needs no introduction. Reason why I’m featuring this is because the food is very tasty, they are a lot cheaper than their counterparts like the Macpherson one and the food quality is a lot better. On top of that, the lady taking orders is very friendly! I love Teochews! ;P

Long queue during lunch time... Well,, they are only open during lunch time lor... Be prepared to queue for 15mins, but food will be served shortly after you place your orders

This is th Kway which you will be eating with the dishes below. I can eat like 3 bowls of these.

Spare parts from the pig. Used to be a very cheap delicacy but because of growing demands, the prices are like it is now... Butthis stall does it so well, there is hardly any smell and very very tender.

Braised Pork Leg - Super tender and lean for me... This plate cost only like $4. Love it.

Salted Veg (Chye Buay) - Used to be unwanted also like the spare parts.

Nothing is left behind for the rats... ;P

Taste: Very tasty, very tender, very traditional. Those who have gout should avoid this. Maybe like once a month is fine. 🙂

Portion: Good

Price: Wth 5 bowls of Kway and all the dishes, the bill came up to about $11+ for 2 persons. Very reasonable.

RTE: Many times already. No time to feature only 🙂
