Probably one of the best on my Fried Oyster list. Now, when I exclaim best Fried Oyster, I don’t mean every time good lah. How good it is depends on whether uncle that day good mood or not. Yes, the uncle’s attitude was what deterred us from patronising them in the first place but after we tried it one faithful night, there wasn’t any turning back.

What I like about this stall is that uncle retains the authentic taste of Orh Luak which I reminiscent since young. Not many actually got to taste Fried Oyster during the 70s. I was fortunate cos my nanny and mummy dote on me. Hence this palate of mine got gastronomical since I was able to walk! So I actually checked with the uncle if his grandpa really sold fried oyster on pushcarts last time and he verified it. Taste is truly legendary and the flour is greyish in colour and tender like the old times. Really hope he keep frying or pass down to someone who is as dedicated to keep this tradition going!

Tried this the first time when Diana tapao on one of the nights when it we didn’t know what to eat so we headed down to 85 Market after closing the cafe for the day. The other time was fried by a younger chap. This time round caught on video is the owner himself, Mr Goh. Prior to this vlog we didn’t know that Mr. Goh is illiterate hence Whatsapp or digital online platforms are challenging for him. In addition, his stall is overshawdowed by the 2 stalls on the front row. So hopefully this vlog can help drive him some traffic admist this pandemic… And perhaps more reviews on Google Maps as well.

When we had this Fried Oyster the first time, the taste brought me back to my childhood days where Fried Oyster was not affordable, and I thank my parents and Nanny for doting on me by letting me try many types of foods. Hence, expanded my taste profiling since I was young. This was our second time having it, the taste was equally good. Shows that the second generation has been taught well and I’m really happy for Mr Goh. Tried the Wu Xiang Xia Bing also, it was good but the beehoon had an unique taste which we were guessing was five spice powder. Other than that the ingredients were nicely executed. Ultimately in our opinion, this Fried Oyster is prolly one of the best around in Singapore, together with another stall, Teck’s Oyster, located at East Coast Lagoon Food Centre. So go support this legendary hawker since 1967 ya and keep the tradition alive!

Have always wanted to visit Liang Ji but never had the chance. Heard so much about the owner Dominic and his past and blah blah blah which I don’t really care cos that’s the past. What matters most is that his food is good and like any other hawkers and F&B owners out there, we are all fighting hard to survive. Those not in F&B will never understand… Especially those so called foodies who will not hold back in destroying a F&B outlet.

One thing I applaud Dominic is his willingness to try new things, fighting spirit and be creative in his offerings even though hawker food is quite hard to divert from the original way of taste and cooking. He beats many others who would only blame the government for not providing when they cannot excel in what they are suppose to do best. I do not know him well but I know he has a lot of ‘brothers’ supporting him which to me, money can’t buy one.

What I like about Liang Ji’s Fried Kway Teow is that every plate is fried individually (that’s what I saw lah) and with a lot of his legendary wok hei! And the carrot cake was so artistically fried, making sure every bit of carrot cake is coated with egg… Yummy!

Ah Chuan Fried Oyster Omelette – Toa Payoh, Singapore


Toa Payoh has many hidden gems (food of course) and I happen to get to know about this stall which apparently has been there for the longest time. Obviously for a non-TP resident, I wouldn’t know until someone tells me about it.

So I was planning my visit. I was told they are closed on Tuesdays, the same day as my off day. And I can’t visit them on any other days ‘cos they are opened only from 1.30pm to 5pm!!! I was thinking, wow, I like this kind of work also, less than 8hrs a day! So when I got my Monsays off too, I seize the opportunity to visit them the following week.

After visiting them then i realized why they are opening so short hours daily. Reason is they are in semi-retirement mode, just passing time doing when they love and serving their regular diehard fans. At the same time, it made me realize also during this operational hours, they were frying non-stop and quality and service were not compromised.
Chilli sauce slightly sweet, spicy and sour. very nicely balance to boost your taste buds.
I’m a vacuum cleaner and I’m proud of it. It’s a way to show your appreciation of the good food and not wasting food at the same time!

Rating: 5/5. Prolly one of the best in Singapore by far.

Taste: Authentic like how I tasted when I was young. If you like it a little more crispy on the outside, request for it. But by default it’s already lightly crisp and tender inside.

Portion: Average

Ambience: Hawker Center but very high ceiling and good natural lighting.

Price: $4, $5 or $8. My portion of $5 comes with 8 oysters inside.

01-26 – Mountbatten, Singapore


Yeah I found it funny too, there isn’t any name for this stall but 4 huge ass digits. And I was looking for some good fried oyster. This stall seems like jack-of-all-trades selling so many fried items, but I tried it nevertheless.

Taste: Surprisingly, the taste was pretty good! The crisp on the outer layers makes it pretty close to authenticity. Very nice sourish chilli sauce and good size oysters too! Good thing is, the lady took her time to fry and made it nice!

Portion: Average.

Service: Self-service…

Ambience: On the second row, air no good.

Price: $5

RTE: Probably. But I prefer the Punggol one at the back row.

Katong Fried Oyster (加東劉記蠔煎) – Bedok, Singapore


Haha bedok again. This stall of Fried Oyster is worth mentioning ‘cos the way they fry it is the right way for that awesome crisp on the outside. Have you tried this before?

Nice crisp on the outside and soft gooey texture inside. Very nice, reminds me of the taste I had when I was young.

Fried Oyster Stall #01-53 – Maxwell Market, Singapore


I was at Maxwell Market recently and was craving for some Fried Oyster when I spotted this stall #01-53. This is a One-Man-Operation stall apparently sells everything that is hawker fried…

The no name stall offering all the fried foods!

So I thought the food shouldn’t be that bad right? I was so wrong. The fried oyster is all chunked up and soggy. And above all, had to wait for 15 mins and paid $6 for a miserable plate. So the saying must be right… Jack of all trades, master of none?

I’m sharing this so that none of my readers will be conned by such poor culinary. For $6 I believe I should be getting at least better Fried Oyster than this!
