They have a variety of braised items too!

Braised Pork Leg! Yums!
I ordered fish slice with fried bones. If not the soup would be clearer. But still yummy!

Intro:
This is another hawker operating for prolly more than 20 years already. They used to be from the corner coffeeshop at the end of Lor 27 Geylang diagonally opposite Ho Kee Pau. I remember driving mum there to have our favourite fish soup and braised pork leg on weekends and usually the place will be packed with regulars. Moving to this current location may be a lot cleaner and neater, but rental is very high as I was told. Nevertheless I’m glad I found them through my staff Ray, and would like to introduce to you guys one of my top ranking fish soup places.

Taste:

They are those rice-with-soup porridge specialist. The soup looks clear and deceiving but their fresh sliced fish soup is so damn good, you’ll be hit by the yummy fish flavours once the soup touches your tongue! Check out their braised pork leg or braised duck also! Very nice with steam white rice!

From $4.

Whampoa Keng Fish Head Steam Boat Restaurant – Balestier, Singapore

I’ve been patronising this place for the longest time… maybe almost 2 decades… but since I’ve started eatwithroy.com, I have not written about this place at all! Maybe because they have been doing so well for so many years that I thought they do not need any more publicity. But then again, the other side of me is telling me that their food is so good, more people should know about it… hence this blog post! ;P

I’ve been to Whampoa Keng again recently and the food standards are still there. Really impressed with the way they have kept up the standards for such a long time since they started in Whampoa market! And they have since opened up at Rangoon Road as well as in Batam Island, Indonesia… which I will share some of the pics below. Check out the foods that I would order at this lovely restaurant.

Yummy yummy fish slices closed up. This soup is the typical teochew style where they use sour plum inside and loads of bones to boil the soup for hours.

海鲜之家 (Seafood House) – Eunos, Singapore

Alright I’m attempting to write my blogs on the bus again. Can only do it when the bus is not so crowded or else very hard to use 2 thumbs.

海鲜之家 or Seafood House in direct translation, is a recent stall at Eunos Hawker Centre which I’ve discovered. Reason is because they opened till 10pm, a time which I can meet after closing the cafe. Stall is owner by a PRC lady who have been living here for the past decade and her hubby is a Singaporean. She goes to buy her fish daily from the market and occasional you may get some premium fish… Just like some single origin coffee beans haha. Heard it’s long queue during peak hours which I doubt I’ll get to see. Anyways check out the pics below:

This was the premium fish order which was red snapper. Paid $8 for this bowl.

See the red snapper fillets. no regrets ordering this!

This was another time when i ordered the regular mackerel fish for $3.50 plus rice $0.50. Fish was very fresh and reasonably portioned.

This was the mixed seafood order whichis $5.00 per bowl. loads of seafood!

well well well there were 2 scallops!!!

And loads of seafood!!!

They use the 扁鱼 to flavour the soup

As usual, clean plate/bowl . #cleanplate

豪鄉美味鱼头炉 (Hao Xiang Fish Head Steamboat) – Defu Lane, Singapore

A friend had cravings for fish head steamboat one of the weekends and I remembered seeing some sort like that kinda stall in Defu Lane, not far from where I live. So we took a drive to check out the place around 5pm and was delighted to find the coffee shop within this industrial place opened. Apparently this stall is part of the Hao Xiang International Pte Ltd, which owns quite a number of tse char stalls around Singapore.

Found a nice table under the fan, and placed our orders.

Fish Soup & Braised Pork Leg (Lor 27A Geylang)

Was driving around Geylang area on Sun with my mum to look for the acupuncturist her friend was recommending and we decided to have Bak Kut Teh (Pork Ribs Soup) for lunch. So I drove to this pretty good Bak Kut Teh place which not many people know, so maybe I thought I should feature them here.

The coffeeshop is located at the end of Lor 27 Geylang, on the left side. Right side is the famous You Tiao Wang place. Manage to find a parking lot near the coffeeshop (which is rare) and so mummy and I sat down to order a bowl of soup each. We were asked if we wanna order a side dish of Braised Pork Leg as well, so I told the man I only want lean ones. And we ordered yam rice as well to go with the soup. The food came and to our surprise, the soup was fish soup and not pork ribs! Then I realised that the pork ribs stall only opens at 5pm… AARRRRGGGHHHHH… but after peering into the bowl of fish soup, it looks really tasty so we didn’t mind hehe…
