Eat @ B5 – Genting Highlands, Malaysia

Advertisements

Yeah I’m on a roll writing Genting food ‘cos I really need to clear all the food that I reckon worthy (or not!) in my backlogs. This foodcourt place has been there for the longest time, originally opened for the bus and taxi drivers but now more people are actually eating there now. Recently renovated, this foodcourt now is a lot nicer than what it was previously. Along with the new renovation, the price of the food also escalated a lot. Nevertheless it’s prolly one of the cheapest places to eat when you’re in Genting Highlands. Check out the reviews below:

The foodcourt
The foodcourt
Jumbo meat paus, lor mai gai and other dim sum steamer
Jumbo Pork Pau RM$5 – Huge 12cm in diameter and filled with pork, turnip and a segment of hard boiled egg.
See the amount of pork fillings inside the pau.
Chee Cheong Fun RM$9 – My mum’s all time favorite. Malaysian’s chee cheong fun comes with yong tau foo on top, which makes it more tasty, Prices climbed a lot since.
Spare Rib King – Pretty well done, love it.
Salted Fish Fried Rice – If you like salted fish like I do, order this! Crispy and fragrant pieces of fish on top, awesome.
Hor fun – Quite small plate but tasted ok.
Bill for Tse Char, pau and coffee.

Rating: 4/5

Taste: 4/5 (A lot better than some ‘higher class’ eateries in Genting)

Portion: 3.5/5

Service: Self-service. For the tse char you can opt for the dishes be served but will be more costly.

Ambience: 3/5 (Smokers are still allowed inside…)

Price: Average around RM$15-30 depending on what you eat.

RTE: All the time lor!

Location: Basement 5 of Resort Hotel, Genting Highlands. Directly opposite Theme Park Hotel.

MADAM KWAN’S @ MEGA MALL

If you’re at Mega Mall @ Mid Valley Malaysia, you may have a lot of choices for food. So I decided to give this Madam Kwan’s a try and I was in for some surprise… Click to enlarge pics.

The restaurant is just outside Jusco on level 2 in the centre of the mall... if I can remember clearly...Service Counter
Ambience
Pretty good Penang Char Kway Teow
Super Famous Nasi Lemak - From the left is sambal ikan bilis, cucumber, curry chicken, hard boil egg, and fish floss. I would prefer the ikan bilis to be the crispy ones with peanuts, sambal chilli on the side, sunny side up to replace the hard boil egg. But this is Malaysian style lah, but everything is very tasty.
Looks at the rice... grain by grain... very fragrant of coconut milk.
Achar by the side... not too bad but the ones at Punggol Nasi Lemak (Upp Serangoon) is a lot better.
chunky curry chicken... 2 pieces of super thick gravy curry chicken thigh meat. very nice.
Juicy Chicken Wings! Very nice and juicy when you bite into this mid section.

Rating: 4.5/5. Service not too good. Quite a shame cos they have many branches in KL and food is pretty good.

Taste: Very good. High class Malaysian local cuisine lah… But it’s good.

Portion: Average. Extra rice will cost you… forgot to take a look at the price.

Price: Total abo0ut RM$40+ for 2.

RTE: For the Nasi Lemak and I wanna try the other Nasi dunno whathat uses 3 different kinds of rice.

Location: Mega Mall @ Mid Valley centre wing
