Discovered a nice dessert place also in the Shui Wei town of the Futian District in Shenzhen. I’ve walked past this place before twice and only went in to check it out on the third time. It is said to be originated from HK but I haven’t seen this in HK though… The cafe is nicely decorated like a usual HK Cafe (Cha Can Ting) and was greeted when we stepped into the place. Check out the video that I’ve done below:
Overall Rating: 4.5/5. Could be a full 5 if the latte was prepared better. The poor pulling of the espresso shot was apparent in the taste. Waffles was awesome, good portioning and the set was totally value for money.
Found this little outlet while venturing around the King Glory Plaza one day and I really found this place by smelling it out! I detected the durian aroma (poison for some) and headed towards that direction. Ok to be honest, I didn’t know Four Seasons Durians have branched out to Shenzhen… and in fact, I didn’t know they existed in the first place! ;P I only came to know about this brand via this shop, hence it is a good move franchising out to China! 🙂
During my recent trip back home in Singapore, the prices in Singapore is a lot more expensive than in China. It could be a penetration strategy but I ruled it out as they have already 3 outlets to date here in Shenzhen. It could also be because of spending power? Then again, the people in Shenzhen have high spending power too! But I’m not complaining as the prices here are a lot cheaper due to currency conversion.
Taste: 5/5. The taste in the ice cream and pancakes were very rich, taste is so strong that you better not kiss anyone after that! Pancakes must eat while hot!
Service: 5/5. Very good service. So good that the girl over the counter gave me some mints after I told her I was going to meet someone.
Ambience: 4/5. Small shop, limited seats. More for takeaways.
Price: Ice Cream RMB$8, Pancakes each RMB$9, 2 for RMB$15.
RTE: Yes, soon!
Location: B2-23 King Glory Plaza, Shenzhen. They have another 2 outlets at Dongmen and Windows of The World.
Another regular dessert place I always try to go to whenever in Guangzhou. This place boast their award winning 双皮奶 as well as their 姜撞奶. But other than their many traditional desserts, they have meals like noodles and steam rice as well. They also deliver to anywhere within the vicinity of Haizhu Square. So if you’re staying at any hotels within this area, you can give them a call and order in to save you to hassle of squeezing with the crowd.
Taste: Cheap and good. Not fantastic for the meals but good for their desserts.
Price: See pics.
RTE: Many times already.
Location: See last pic for address for the 2 outlets. The one I frequent in the first one.
Ok I know you must be thinking why should I review such a popular dessert chain of stores right? Reason is, what they have in HK is different from the ones in China. In fact they have some other interesting items which distinguish them from their HK parent chain of stores. I was putting up at Lido Hotel on Beijing Lu in Guangzhou last month and this dessert store is just downstairs! Apart from other many great food places lah…
Rating: 4.5/5. Prices a tad too high.
Taste: Was really nice and addictive especially the durian thing… I had 2 servings!
Price: A bit on the high side but still affordable to us.
Portion: Below average for the price paid.
RTE: If I see them in Shenzhen, I might just pop by.
Location: This one is below Lido Hotel, Beijing Lu, Guangzhou. They have many branches in HK, SZ and GZ.
